Lisa Doust
Barrister (6 St James Hall Chambers)
Lisa commenced practising law in the 1990s, initially working with the Australian Government Solicitor. She started in industrial law as a legal officer for what was then the Mining and Energy Division of the CFMEU, and since that time has worked for an Aboriginal Family Violence service in Central Australia, and Maurice Blackburn in Melbourne.
She has been a barrister since 2008. Recent career highlights include:
working on the aged care work value case; and
a recent appeal to the Federal Court, which established that contrary to the view of Judge Vasta at first instance, when a CFMEU organiser said “Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater” to a manager called Pete on a building site, he was not using a notorious homophobic slur.
